One is generally amazed that an area with such weather extremes offers such a wide array of golfing options. In recent years the valley has seen a number of new private golf resort developments spring up, which were badly needed. Fortunately none in Yellowstone Park, yet. One can now choose from a number of options in the valley or within a short drive.
Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis
Opening in 1963, and redesigned in 1973 by Robert Trent Jones Jr. With uninterupted views of the Tetons and holes meandering along the Gros Ventre river this course immerses the player in the natural beauty of the region. Consistently ranked as one of Wyoming’s top courses, and even in the country by Golf Digest Magazine. Located just North of Jackson, abutting Grand Teton National Park.
Teton Pines
Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, Teton Pines opened in 1987. Located on the western side of the Snake River nestled at the base of the Southern edge of the Teton range. Centrally located 8 miles from the town of Jackson and 4 miles from Teton Village. This course does support many water features, and remains relatively flat throughout.
Golfing over the pass in Idaho
Just a short drive over Teton Pass there are a few more options available. These courses have lower prices and tend to have more available tee times than courses located in Jackson Hole. The drive over Teton Pass is quite scenic, and well worth the trip. If you should need a snack or a meal, stop and get a huckleberry shake at the Victor Emporium or visit the Wildlife Brewery to sample some locally crafted beer.
