There are a number of local food vendors available with dishes that delight. There is a mix of beverages for all ages, ice cream and shaved ice. Don’t forget the lawn chair or  blanket for lounging. A number of local acts will be opening for these bands throughout the Summer.

Bring the whole family out as this is an all-ages event. Please try to utilize public transportation or bicycles. Take advantage of Valet Parking for your bicycle, via Friends of Pathways. Teton County Fair 2013

Posted on: July 12th, 2013 by thcAdmin No Comments

July 22nd thru July 29th 2012

The Teton County Fair signals the heart of Summer in Jackson Hole. The fair grounds will be humming with activity all week long making this possibly the most entertaining time to visit in Summer. Visitors to area will find all the usual fair delights; rides, 4-H displays, livestock, petting zoo, nightly entertainment. The nightly events including the rodeo, live music, pig wrestling, figure 8 races and more. Parking at the fairgrounds is $10.

teton county fair petting zoo

There is a food court located inside the main fair grounds with all of your usual delights. I  recommend not missing out on some local fixin’s over by the events tent. Located on Snow King Ave., the tent hosts talent shows etc. throughout the day, which provides some entertainment while dining. You will find a large grassy area with some picnic tables located near the “Big Top” events tent.

My favorite is the philly cheese steaks or cheeseburgers at the Rocky Mountain Ministries food booth.

A collection of rides and games can be found around the fair’s “midway” that are sure to thrill children and adults.

Figure 8 Races seem to be a big hit with locals and visitors. In years past the Demolition Derby was the Sunday night featured event. Soon after the introduction of of the Figure 8’s, it replaced the Derby.

This event combines the smash and crash of a derby with a little finese. Cars race around a figure 8 track where “rubbin’s racin’!” A fireworks display concludes the fair on Sunday evening. Come on out and enjoy our fair!

The fourth in Jackson is a fun filled day. There is a lot to keep you busy from sun up to sun down. Be prepared for the crowds. It is good to find a nice parking spot, try the public parking garage located on Millward, then set out by foot or by bike. There will be some congestion getting out of and around town after the fireworks display.

Snake River Flows Rising

Posted on: May 20th, 2013 by thcAdmin No Comments

If you are in Jackson Hole over the next few weeks, whitewater action is coming on! Flows in the Snake River Canyon are currently rising. Flows through the Snake River Canyon section of the river generally peak sometime between the middle of May and early June. When the flows reach their peak, the best whitewater action of the season is waiting for you. Rafting and kayaking adventures are sure to provide some thrills at this time of year.

The extended forecast seems to hole some warm weather, which should help increase the flows over the next week or so. For more information on Snake River Flows. For more information on Jackson Hole weather.

Be prepared, as water temperatures are quite cool. I would highly advise utilizing a wetsuit.
