Every clear Friday night, Wyoming Stargazing is hosting free public stargazing events at Rendevous Park. During the stargazing events they will be using their giant Dobsonian Telescope with a 20″ primary mirror to look at planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and more! They will also bring several iPads with the Star Walk application installed on them so you can explore the heavens while others are looking through the telescopes.
The telescopes are named after the late amateur astronomer John Dobson who designed the telescope mount used by those telescopes. John was also instrumental in popularizing amateur astronomy and amateur telescope building across the county. The programs will take place at roughly 9:00pm for the rest of the season. Feel free to show up for whatever portion of the program works for you.
These free public stargazing events have been made possible by a generous grant from the Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium, NASA Grant #NNX10AO95H.
Rendevous Park is located on the West Bank of the Snake River, on your Right just after you merge onto HWY 390 from HWY 22.
