Roller Derby

Roller Derby is Back!!

Come on out and cheer on the gals! A flat tracked style of derby is what you will find here, not the bruiser ramp style that often comes to mind. Since its inaugural season, there has already been a tremendous amount of community support. The first match was held in 2012 and drew an overwhelming crowd for its kick off event. Doors open at 6p.m. with the action starting around 7p.m. The cost is $10/Adults and $5/Children.

One would not know it is only their first year in the league by the way these ladies skate and play. There is some fast action combined with moments of pure finesse. The action is virtually non-stop. There is also a band at half time to keep you entertained. To find out more about the Jackson Hole Juggernauts check out their website.

Dinner and Elk Viewing

Posted on: March 1st, 2018 by thcAdmin No Comments

Combine a dinner sleigh ride with elk viewing at the Mill Iron Ranch. Taking a horse drawn sleigh ride to view the elk is awesome. A short sleigh ride which incorporates viewing of a resident elk herd, will be followed by a hearty Wyoming dinner.

After an active day nothing beats a great meal combined with some Western hospitality. There is a resident elk herd in the area of the ranch which can often be viewed during the sleigh ride. Always a unique dining experience.

Dinner sleigh rides are one of the more popular activities during the winter season, so book early. The intimacy of the ranch and the authentic Wyoming experience offered by the crew at the Mill Iron is unsurpassed. I recommend working this experience into your schedule while  visiting the area.

Head South of town and hop into a sleigh at the Mill Iron Ranch, if you would like further information and/or reservations, contact them directly at 888-808-6390 or 307-733-6390.

July 11, 12, 13 and August 8, 9, 10 of Summer 2014

Art Fair Jackson Hole is held twice a summer. The art fair is held in Miller Park, just a few blocks South West from the Town Square on Deloney St. There are a large number of artists on display, a food court and live music. There are hands on art activities in which the whole family can participate. A number of local musicians perform throughout the weekend. One of my favorite Summer events, it has grown quite a bit over the years, but still maintains a unique atmosphere.

The Jackson Hole Art Association has cultivated this event into a great weekend of art. The fair was first held in 1965 in an effort to bring a diversity of artist to this quaint Western community. The three day format certainly is an enhancement giving folks a bit more time to make their way there. More than 150 artists are on display during this three day event.  Be sure to stop by and take a look. Take advantage the opportunity to meet the artists and view an amazing array mediums. The wide variety of things to take in is why I enjoy spending a leisurely afternoon checking the art fair out. Entry fee is $5/person.

Most Wanted Premiere

Posted on: October 25th, 2012 by thcAdmin No Comments

November 17, 2012

Storm Show primarily features local riders from the Jackson area. The terrain is amazing and Darrell tends to put together a unique and entertaining feature film each season. The premiere tends to be one of the more entertaining pre-season events in Jackson. Come out and support a local filmmaker who is sure to capture some of the best riders doing what they love to do. Storm Show’s ability to capture the “stoke” of the moment tends to embody the spirit of those who live to ride in the Tetons and beyond. As previously mentioned Storm Show’s premiers tend to be one of the funnest events of the Fall off-season here in the Hole so be sure to pencil this one in on your calendar. This event brings riders of a kindred spirit together to reminisce about seasons past and to share anticipation of the season which is upon us. For a glimpse at the trailer click. There will be an early and late showing, with the late show tending to be a bit of a party.

From Storm Show’s website:

The most wanted big mountain lines in Jackson Hole are in Storm Show’s 2012 ski/ride/A+dream-a-line film, “Most Wanted”. New to the line-up this year, veteran Storm Show producer Darrell Miller has teamed up with Full Room Productions’ Ryan Halverson, bringing you more hard-hitting, action-packed, gnar-shredding from the Jackson Hole backcountry. The usual suspects are joined by some new bloods, showing us why they’re among the best riders in the West, and proving that there’s never a bad snow year in Jackson Hole!

Hold onto your hat and get your ski-flick fix with Jackson Hole’s premiere ski film production of “Most Wanted”!Highlights include: Jason Elms and crew exploring deeper into the Wind River Range, another dream day out on the North Shore, unbelievable avalanche footage, Travis McAlpine and crew heading north to find the goods in Alaska, and of course all your classic Jackson backcountry lines being skied hard at “low tide”.

3 Nights of Rodeo thru August

Posted on: August 6th, 2012 by thcAdmin No Comments

The Jackson Hole Rodeo will be hosting 3 events per week thru early September. Jackson Hole Rodeo will be testing the waters by adding a bonus night of rodeo during the busy month of August. I hope it bodes well for them. For years it has seemed as though the rodeo would benefit by an additional night, since the demand has seemed to be here. Visitors to the valley should enjoy the additional night, and take advantage of being able to do a little more with their time in the valley.

Evenings can often be conflicted between dinner trail rides, chuckwagon dinners, and the rodeo. With an additional night of rodeo visitors should be freed up to do a little more with their time here in the hole.
For the month of August into early september the schedule will be as follows; August 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 and September 1, 2, 5, 8.

Teton County Fair

Posted on: July 15th, 2012 by thcAdmin No Comments

The Teton County Fair signals the heart of Summer in Jackson Hole. The fair grounds will be humming with activity all week long making this the best time to visit in Summer. Visitors to area will find all the usual fair delights; rides, 4-H displays, livestock, petting zoo, nightly entertainment. The nightly events including the rodeo, live music, pig wrestling, figure 8 races and more.

There is a food court located inside the main fair grounds with all of your usual delights. I  recommend not missing out on some local fixin’s over by the events tent. Located on Snow King Ave., the tent hosts talent shows etc. throughout the day, which provides some entertainment while dining. You will find a large grassy area with some picnic tables located near the “Big Top” events tent.

My favorite is the philly cheese steaks or cheeseburgers at the Rocky Mountain Ministries food booth.

A collection of rides and games can be found around the fair’s “midway” that are sure to thrill children of all ages.

Figure 8 Races seem to be a big hit with locals and visitors. In years past the Demolition Derby was the Sunday night featured event. Soon after the introduction of of the Figure 8’s, it replaced the Derby. This event combines the smash and crash of a derby with a little finese. Cars race around a figure 8 track where “rubbin’s racin’!” A fireworks display will conclude the fair on Sunday evening.

Come on out and enjoy our fair!
