Duckie Tours

Posted on: July 15th, 2015 by thcAdmin No Comments

Rubber Duckies, are inflatable kayaks designed for aquatic exploration. This a unique and exciting way of river running is safe and fun for the whole family. Inflatable Kayaking is far more thrilling than traditional white-water rafting and have no problem handling turbulent water.

These boats are extremely maneuverable and quite resilient. One of the most exciting ways to ride the river. The boat rides low in the water making smaller waves during the late summer much more fun. No previous river experience is necessary. Experienced instructors will familiarize you with equipment. After providing a brief river safety course and paddling instruction your adventure begins. You will find these watercraft amazingly simple to control. The section of the Snake River that is run, provides class III rapids. All equipment and transportation is included.

Myself and members of my family have enjoyed taking the Duckies down the Snake. Guided trips are offered by Rendevous River Sports.

Zipline Adventures

Zip Yellowstone operates out of two area. Gardner and Big Sky. Combination packages such as the Zip n’ Dip are quite popular.

The Gallatin River ZipLine is located between Bozeman and Big Sky, Montana, right off highway 191, just over an hour drive North from West Yellowstone. The dramatic scenery includes towering limestone cliffs, pine forest and a rushing river. This is the area where the movie A River Runs Through It was filmed. On these tours, you start by ascending sky bridges to a tree platform 55ft in the air! Both tours have two Zips across the Gallatin River! The Super Zip adds to the experience with more adventure elements. Test your balance on our swaying wooden swings or try our optional cargo net climb.

Yellowstone Ranch ZipLine is located on the historic Stermitz Ranch in the mountains bordering Yellowstone Park, just outside of Gardiner, MT. The tour will take you up a mountainside and then soaring back down. Gaze at the gorgeous pristine vistas, listen to the gurgling mountain stream and watch for wildlife on this remote and scenic property. To add to the thrills, go for the Grande Tour. Two of these zips are a breathtaking 1200+ft and take you flying ridge to ridge, 200ft above Cinnabar Creek! The trips meet in Gardiner and we shuttle you to and from the zip line course.

I have been receiving very positive reviews from guests touring the area. If you are in Gardiner or West Yellowstone take a sometime to include Zip Yellowstone into your vacation.

Its An Early Spring 2012

We are curently being blessed with fabulous Spring weather. The warmer temperatures this season have melted out the lower elevations. Hiking and biking trails are accessible throughout the valley. Take advantage of these conditions and get out there and enjoy the day! As the photo illustrates, the lower slopes of the peaks in Grand Teton National Park are now melting out and should provide for some earlier than usual access to many higher alpine areas. It has been a few years since the Jackson Hole area has had weather like this. Locals and visitors can be heard commenting on the good weather and inviting conditions to getting out and exploring the area.

Rent a bike or take a hike, the community pathways system is clear. Trails in Cache Creek are clean of snow and mud.  Soon the Cache-Game divide should be clear of snow. Other near town trails should be go to go by mid-may. On Teton Pass only the lower trails should be explored, below Phillips. Snow King is pretty clear as one can tell just by looking. In Grand Teton National Park the trail from Moose to Jenny Lake is ready to go, this is a paved trail parralleling the Teton Range at its base.

Getting out on the river would be another good way to spend the day. A whitewater or scenic float down the Snake River.  Enjoy the sunshine and take in some wildlife. The river corridor is an excellent place to see wildlife. Rivers are still cloudy with spring runoff. Contact a local fishing outfitter if you’d like to get into some trout. Just over the border in daho local waterways are coming on line.
