With Jackson’s wide open spaces and a limited number of roads, it is quite easy to navigate. There are a number of transportation options available upon arrival in Jackson Hole. A free public parking area and transportation center exists at the junction of highways 22 and 390, look for the signs. This will provide access to the S.T.A.R.T. bus system with transportation to Teton Village or the Town of Jackson. You will find some form of Jackson Hole transportation available 24 hrs a day.
**Winter Driving Blip**
Winter driving in Wyoming can be eventful at times. During the Winter season the public transportation system in Jackson runs a beefed up schedule to serve the valley and its visitors. There is not a lot of driving to be done since the roads in the National Parks remain largely un-plowed and are closed to cars. If you are staying along the bus route, and your primary goal is skiing and/or snowboarding, utilize it. Sit back, take in the scenery and leave the driving to an experienced local. If you do need to rent a car there are plenty of options available.
Shuttle Service
Shuttle service is typically used by many visitors to the valley to get between the airport and their lodging. This is an easy and convenient way to go. Meeting all flights and serving most lodging establishments in the area. One merely needs to arrive and pick up their bags, the shuttle service is waiting right outside the door. We do suggest advanced reservations in order to expedite things.
During the Summer a shuttle service that travels from Jackson to Flagg Ranch and back. For those who do not wish to rent a car this service provides a number of trips throughout the day and stops at most major attraction areas within Grand Teton National Park.
Taxi Service
There are a number of local taxi services in the area. You will find that taxi service in Jackson is more readily available than in MANY much larger communities. Rates are regulated, and are calculated with point to point fares based on the number of people to be transported. Service is available 24 hours a day and is a great way to get around.
The taxi vehicles in Jackson are often large SUVs and vans that are ready to accomodate the individual or group. This additionally assists in transporting the large amounts of gear people are often traveling with when visiting our area.

***If you are traveling as a family or group, you may want to investigate utilizing the taxi vs. shuttle when going to and from the airport. Depending on how many people are in your party and where you need to go, the taxi may work better for your group’s dynamics. Doing this can secure you a private and direct ride to your destination, typically saving some time and/or money.***
Public Transportation
The public transportation sytem is ever improving in the area. Locally known as the Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit or S.T.A.R.T. bus. They provide reliable transportation throughout the valley. There is a free in-town shuttle. More of the valley is serviced at a reasonable price. We strongly encourage the use and support of this system.
S.T.A.R.T. serves most major areas of the valley. It is very convenient and has stops located throughout the valley. Many ask, but it does not serve the Jackson Hole Airport.
Rental Vehicles
There is a wide array or rental companies located at the airport and in the town of Jackson. Many of the agencies located in town will pick you up from where you are and bring you to their agency to complete the vehicle rental. Airport transportation is generally included if your reservations are with an agency not located at the airport.
Snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATVs and horses are all locally available as well. Guided or unguided. For go on your own “self-guided” trips, maps and local knowledge are available at the various agencies. These rentals can make for an exhilarating day of adventure.
Limousine Service
Although somewhat limited in our remote corner of the state, it can be arranged. There is not a wide array of options as few companies do provide this type of service. We would suggest booking early considering the limited number of options. The greater the lead time, the greater the potential is that your needs will be met.
